Governance Committees

Are you interested in sustainable ag, environmental issues, or making change on campus? F.H. King is looking for passionate, engaged students to help democratically direct our student-funded organization. Join a working group for a topic that you’re interested in and help shape the future of F.H. King and the UW campus! F.H. King strives to be an inclusive community that celebrates difference; we encourage queer folks and people of color to join.

Farm:

If you are an ecologically minded student with a desire to get your hands dirty, help us run the Student Farm! We operate a 1 acre growing space by Eagle Heights where we grow all sorts of fruits and vegetables. You can become a voice and decision maker in what we grow and how we grow it. You will learn about sustainable and innovative growing techniques, food preservation techniques, farm planning, and much more. There is infinite room for creativity out there--crazy ideas welcome.

Urban Ag:

Are you looking for ways to get involved in agriculture in the city? Do you like innovative ways to be sustainable? Are you unafraid of getting a little dirty? F.H. King is looking for students excited to cultivate their Urban Agriculture programs, including maintaining the rooftop garden, running the bike-powered compost program, and developing hydroponic partnerships.

Education:

Seeking dedicated, justice oriented people to join a committee dedicated to design and facilitate internships, monthly speaker series, educational workshops, and community based projects in greater Madison. This committee is ideal for students interested in developing skills in curriculum design, event planning, and sustainable agriculture. We will meet bi-weekly at the LCC.

Outreach:

Direct F.H. King’s campus outreach, forging partnerships with campus orgs, creating and distributing posters & flyers, and creating content for our social media channels. Help create a long-term plan for spreading F.H. King’s message across the UW campus and reaching new communities of students. Will work closely with other committees to best promote their projects. Ideal for students who are interested in art, design, social media, or community-building. Will likely meet bi-weekly or monthly, with online communication in-between meetings.

If you have questions or comments about the rooftop garden, please email the respective director. For director contact information, see the board page.
